We understand that starting university, while exciting, can also be a challenging prospect. We, therefore, want to ensure you have the right support in place to help your studies go smoothly. We have a range of staff and facilities on hand to help you throughout your time with ZJE.
You will be assigned a personal Academic Advisor during your studies, who will help guide you on all academic and pastoral issues. They will be your first point of contact and advise you on appropriate course selection, help review your progress and deal with any academic issues you may have. Your class tutors will also be available to help with academic issues during your tutorials, lecture or practicals.
Our dedicated team is available to help you with any administrative issues you may have including questions about financial difficulties, course selection, visa applications, assessment schedules and more.
“The Administrative team at ZJE are committed to supporting you throughout your studies. Our team will provide guidance on pastoral issues such as information about visas, choosing classes, timetables, exam questions, housing, fees and much more. We are always available to help with non-academic issues; we can’t wait to welcome you to ZJE.”
Mavin, Head of Administration Team
Your Programme Administrator should be your first point of contact for clarification on any logistical issues surrounding your programme.
Remember, no issue is too small or too big. If you require additional assistance during your studies, then you can contact our team directly: firstname.lastname@example.org.
As well as studying English and Mandarin classes as part of your curriculum, you will also have access to the Language Centre. The Language Centre is a free resource for students who can book 30-minute spaces with a personal tutor up to twice per week. You can use this service to work on your academic writing, essay planning, brainstorming, specific lessons on English language for academia, formatting, revising and drafting. The centre also offers workshops on specific academic writing issues and Chinese language classes.
Student to student support
We encourage all students to get involved in the clubs and societies on campus, as a way of socialising, but also as an extra support structure. You will have the opportunity to join clubs during your first few weeks on campus and our International Student Council will also help you to settle into your new life in China.
In case of emergencies, there is a small medical clinic on campus which can be used for basic medical services. All students are covered by a private medical insurance upon registration at the Institute so can be refunded for most medical practices undertaken.
Mental health advice
The Students Counselling Office provides mental health care to all students of the International Campus. There is a national consultant psychologist who can provide advice, needs assessments, psychotherapy, and psychiatric consultation.
New student support
As a new student at ZJE, we will provide you with additional support to help you settle into your new life in China. You can download our new student guide for more information. This will provide you with details on gaining a visa, registering on your courses and paying your fees.
You will also complete a short induction when you arrive on campus. This will provide you with further information on the services available to you, where your classes will take place and information on housing.
If at any time during your studies you are feeling overwhelmed, please do not hesitate to contact one of our team.
