2024 East Asia Education Week was held by British Council in Kuala Lumpur from 26th to 29th February. Our Executive Dean Professor Sue Welburn and Dean of Biomedical Sciences, University of Edinburgh, Professor Mike Shipston both attended the week and were presented as special guests for “ThinkTNE Forum”.
ThinkTNE Forum 2024 is the British Council East Asia’s flagship event focusing on quality and excellence in transnational education. Leading education experts in the UK and East Asia were engaged to discuss top priorities and challenges in the development and delivery of TNE. This year’s theme Progressive Partnerships in Transnational Education aims to continue to explore how we can encourage a move from purely ‘teaching franchises’ to institutional collaborations that progresses with ambitions and visions for students, academics and TNE management in-country. The forum released “Transnational Education in East Asia-Learnings and reflections from the last 25 years ”, in which an article of “Progressive Partnerships in Transnational Education: From Teaching to Research” was published by Prof. Sue Welburn, Prof. Yuehai Ke and Prof. Mike Shipston etc.
Prof. Mike Shipston was invited to the panel for breakout “Academic Engagement” and Prof. Sue Welburn was panel member for breakout “Industry and Government Engagement”. Based on their experience of transnational institute foundation journey, both shared how ZJE managed to shape the educational programmes, support academic development, encourage translational research and serve the local science park in Haining of Zhejiang of China.
Vice Dean Mr Zhiguo Ye and Associate Dean Dr. Jie Zhou attended the forum and interpreted transnational education from Zhejiang University’s perspective.
