Professor Yefeng Zheng from Westlake University Shares Insights on Medical Large Language Models and Their Clinical Applications

On the afternoon of May 28, 2026, the 152nd session of the Biomed-X Research Seminar of ZJE was successfully held in Room 2A-203, ZJE Building. At the invitation of Prof. Ying Chi, Prof.Yefeng Zheng from Westlake University delivered an academic report titled “Medical Large Language Models and Their Clinical Applications”.

Starting from the development backdrop and core challenges of medical artificial intelligence, Professor Zheng systematically presented his team’s latest research achievements in medical image analysis, natural language processing and medical large language models. In the field of medical image analysis, the research team focuses on core technologies for early disease screening and makes breakthroughs in intelligent diagnosis of cancers and ocular diseases, delivering accurate and efficient solutions for early detection and early intervention of illnesses. In natural language processing, the self-developed clinical auxiliary system helps doctors streamline communication with patients and improve diagnostic accuracy. Besides, Professor Zheng shared practical explorations of medical large language models deployed in routine clinical work, demonstrating huge potential of AI to improve the quality of medical services.

Faculty and students engaged in active discussions throughout the event, embodying free academic discussion and critical research thinking. Professor Zheng answered all questions patiently, and his rigorous academic attitude and cutting-edge research brought abundant insights to all attendees.
